SUMMARY:Beyond the Music: A Musical Geography of Mexico
DESCRIPTION:Sones de Mexico Ensemble continues this national NEA funded tour program with this free presentation at Chicago State University in Chicago’s South side\, hosted by the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic\, Jazz Academy. \nMexico’s folk music and dance styles are very diverse and largely unknown outside of Mexico. They will speak about what to listen for in the major regional styles\, give live demonstrations on as many as 12 different regional musical styles from Mexico and take questions form the audience. \nAdmission is free and open to the public. \nThis program is sponsored in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
