DESCRIPTION:Sones de México Ensemble joins the The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago for a special evening celebrating Mexican culture\, music and dance. \nThe Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago was founded in 1982 by José Luis and Matie Ovalle\, its present artistic directors and choreographers. As Chicago’s oldest Mexican dance institution\, MFDC has received countless recognition and awards\, has performed for three presidents and represented Mexico in the 1994 USA World Cup opening ceremony. \nThe company has collaborated with Sones de México many times over the years\, including the Ensemble’s historic 20th Anniversary Concert in Chicago’s Millennium Park.

DESCRIPTION:Sones de México Ensemble will provide the live music for this dance spectacular. \nBallet Folklorico Estrella del Mar (BFEDM) will be celebrating its fourth anniversary. Please join them as they showcase the Mexican culture through dance with special live musical performances. \nBFEDM is a Mexican Folkloric dance group from St. Mary Star of the Sea School. Founded in August 2015\, BFEDM consists of over 60 schoolchildren. In addition to encouraging discipline\, teamwork\, attention to detail\, and an appreciation for the arts\, the children learn about their culture through music and dance. They have performed in various festivals and cultural events for the school and their community. They have recently been invited to perform at the Archdiocese of Chicago Annual Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast and the National Catholic Educational Association Convention.
