Rooted in the Market’s legacy as a long-standing hub for immigrant and migrant cultures, Crossroads of Culture highlights the creative, musical, and entrepreneurial traditions that shaped this area—once known as the “Ellis Island of the Midwest.” The event honors the Market’s long-standing history, designation as the birthplace of Chicago blues and a center of cultural exchange, while celebrating the city’s contemporary cultural landscape.
