Zacbé Pichardo

is a harpist, marimba and percussion player with the ensemble.

He has a composition degree from Columbia College Chicago and has contributed original material to the Ensemble’s repertoire.

sones-de-mex_hwlibrary-14_____A GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominated musician with the Ensemble, Zacbé has performed in prestigious U.S. venues coast-to-coast from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Getty Villa Museum in Los Angeles, including the House of Blues, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Symphony Center and the Harris Theater in Chicago. He has also performed internationally at the the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China, the 2012 Nan Ying International Folklore Festival in Taiwan, and Teatro Buen Dia in Havana Cuba.

_____One of his musical objectives is to combine traditional Mexican rhythms with orchestral sounds. His composition credits include “Tlaloc” for full symphonic orchestra, the “El Lio de Anna” film score for the Chicago Latino Film Festival, the Original Theme song for the “Pedro Paramo” production at the Goodman Theater, and two commissions by Sones de Mexico Ensemble “Pensamiento” and “Origenes Ancestrales”, the later of which was recorded and released in album 13 B’ak’tun (2013).sones-de-mex_hwlibrary-13
