Why give to Sones de México Ensemble?

A letter from Executive Director Juan Díes

December 2022

Dear Friends,

In 2022, we brought you Los San Patricios: The Irish Soldiers of Mexico, La Noche del Son, El Grito, and the World Music Festival in Chicago; Bandas de Mexico residency at NIU-Dekalb; Fiesta ’22 in North Carolina; Dia de los Muertos at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC; a Corridos: Mexican Tragic Ballads  Songwriting Workshop 8-state tour in DC, IL, IN, NC, NH, MA, OH, and RI; and Fiesta Mexicana Summer Camp for youth at Metropolitan Family Services.

Sones de Mexico Ensemble is emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic with an eye on the future. We are strategically increasing our capacity to bring you more programs that you love: more curated, themed concerts; an expanded music education program with a new branch site, a summer camp, and a curriculum that includes more instrumental offerings and multi-state educational touring programs; and more videos and virtual online experiences for audiences worldwide. We have also become more intentional about communicating our commitment to equity and social justice in everything that we do.

Donations of any amount from individuals like you are an essential component of an organization’s stability. They show grass-roots community support and generate more trust and higher investment from larger foundations and government agencies that also support our initiatives.

By donating to Sones de Mexico Ensemble you give us credibility, and you support our mission to promote a greater appreciation of Mexican traditional music and culture. You all also help us move forward and propel our new, post-pandemic strategic initiatives. Please give generously! We will be forever grateful! Happy Holidays!

¡Gracias!
