Rogers Park: Fall Guitar Classes for Kids & Parents

On Saturdays (Sep 8 - Dec 15)

Children ages 9 – 14 can learn to play guitar with and learn about Mexican culture with a professional musician from Sones de México Ensemble.

Classes are on Saturdays at Centro Romero, located in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. The course consists of one-hour group lessons. The classes are in Spanish and the repertoire is based on Mexican folk music. The musical training and theory students receive is applicable to any style of music.

Level 1

Rogers Park: GUITAR CLASS FOR KIDS AND PARENTS
(Level I) Time: 3 PM – 4PM

Children ages 9 – 11 can now learn to play guitar and learn about Mexican culture with a professional musician from Sones de México Ensemble

Level 2

Rogers Park: GUITAR CLASS FOR KIDS AND PARENTS
(Level II) Time: 4PM – 5PM

This class is for children ages 9 – 14 who have already taken our guitar classes before at levels 1. This class will focus on new repertoire that will make students practice the skills they have learned, challenge them to learn new techniques, and learn more about the culture, history and geography of Mexico.

Level 3

Rogers Park: GUITAR CLASS FOR KIDS AND PARENTS
(Level III) Time: 4 pm -5 pm

This class is for children ages 9 – 14 who have already taken our guitar classes before at levels 1 & 2. This class will focus on new repertoire that will make students practice the skills they have learned, challenge them to learn new techniques, and learn more about the culture, history and geography of Mexico.

Level 4

Rogers Park: GUITAR CLASS FOR KIDS AND PARENTS
(Level IV) Time: 5 PM – 6 PM

In Level 4 we will ensure that all students master all the techniques covered in previous courses and we will work on more advanced repertoire.

Level 5

Rogers Park: GUITAR CLASS FOR KIDS AND PARENTS
(Level V) Time: 5 PM – 6 PM

Once students have completed the four levels of guitar classes that we offer, they can join a musical group where they can continue to learn by being introduced to a more diverse repertoire that includes several musical styles that exist in Mexico. The syllabus includes new challenges and advanced techniques, for example: bass lines, arpeggios, lead guitar lines, and various strumming patterns.

Private Lesson

Private lessons are a good complement to group classes. Take a couple of private lessons to catch up with the group if you feel you are falling behind. Perhaps you are interested in working on a particular technique or a song one-on-one.
