Bandas de Mexico Workshop (Part 1)

Sones de Mexico Ensemble music director, Victor Pichardo (arranger) and percussionist Eric Hines will lead a hands-on master class surveying distinct regional styles of “banda” music from Mexico, including Sinaloa, Zacatecas, Morelos, Oaxaca, and Yucatan.
Open to the public, especially brass, horn and percussion instrumentalists with intermediate/advanced music reading skills. Co-sponsored by Friends of the NIU Libraries, Undocumented Student Support, the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies, and the Latino Resource Center.
The workshop is one of a series of lectures and workshops leading up to a free concert collaboration on November 19 between Sones de Mexico Ensemble and the Northern Illinois University Banda and Mariachi Ensembles.
