Bandas de Mexico Workshop (Part 2)

This workshop will pick up where the previous one left off. Sones de Mexico Ensemble music director, Victor Pichardo (arranger) and percussionist Eric Hines will lead a hands-on master class suveying distinct regional styles of “banda” music from Mexico, including Sinaloa, Zacatecas, Morelos, Oaxaca, and Yucatan.

This workshop is open to the public, especially brass, horn and percussion instrumentalists with intermediate/advanced music reading skills. Co-sponsored by Friends of the NIU Libraries, Undocumented Student Support, the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies, and the Latino Resource Center.

The workshop takes place in the Recital Hall of Northern Illinois University Music Building.

The workshop is one of a series of lectures and workshops leading up to a concert collaboration on November 19 between Sones de Mexico Ensemble and the Northern Illinois University Banda and Mariachi Ensembles.
