Sones de Mexico Ensemble and the Ela Area Public Library present a special streamed version of our signature “Beyond the Music: A Musical Geography of Mexico” program on their YouTube Channel to celebrate Mexican Independence Day.

Experience a guided tour through Mexico’s folk music regions with music, narration, and multimedia. Different regions of the country have unique instruments, repertoire, and techniques rarely heard outside these regions. Styles covered include son jarocho, son huasteco, gusto, son istmeño, chilenas, and a dozen other styles.
