6:00pm Preconcert Reception

The CSO Latino Alliance welcomes you to its first event of the 2023/24 season! Enjoy networking, refreshments, and a preconcert presentation exploring the evening’s program and the larger context of performing arts in Mexico. Latino Alliance founding member Dr. Jesús Del Toro will discuss music by Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas, and Chicago’s own Sones de México Ensemble will share a short musical performance highlighting the African presence in Mexico’s folk music and culture as part of their The Black Music of Mexico series sponsored by the Excellerator Fund.

The Black Music of Mexico captivating series of live performances and conversations explores the presence of African culture in Mexico. African-influenced styles of Mexican music to be explored include son jarocho, mariachi, Chilenas, and son de artesa.

7:30pm Concert

The following CSO concert will feature an exuberant melding of styles, including Symphonic Dances from West Side Story and Revueltas’ joyfully raucous Sensemayá.

Discount tickets are $40 (concert + event) with promo code LAEVENTS.  Order online at cso.org or by phone at 312-294-3000. Your pricing will be adjusted after you have added your seats to the online order.
